This notice is given under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.
What we collect, and why
Account and contact details — your name, email address, mobile number and password. We need these to give you an account and to reach you about a reservation or an order.
Professional details — where you ask to be verified, your bar council, enrolment number and the documents you upload. We need these to confirm you are entitled to professional pricing.
Order and payment details — what you reserved, what you paid, and where it was delivered. We need these to perform the contract and to keep the records tax law requires.
Usage — which deals you follow and view. We use this to decide what to negotiate next. Following a deal is the single most useful signal we have about what the profession actually wants.
We do not collect more than these purposes need, and we do not sell your data to anybody.
How your enrolment number is protected
Your bar enrolment number is encrypted before it is stored. Reading it is restricted and access to it is logged.
We also store a one-way keyed fingerprint of it. That lets us notice if two accounts claim the same advocate's registration without anybody having to decrypt the record to find out. The fingerprint cannot be turned back into the number.
Payment information
We do not store your card number, UPI PIN or bank credentials. Payments are processed by a payment gateway, and what we keep is the gateway's reference, the amount, and whether it succeeded.
How long we keep it
Account data: while your account exists, and then as long as any legal obligation requires.
Order, invoice and payment records: as required by tax and company law, currently eight years. We cannot delete these on request while that obligation runs, and we will tell you so rather than quietly retaining them.
Verification documents: while the verification is valid, and then for as long as needed to answer a dispute about it.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to erase it, and withdraw a consent you have given.
Where we cannot act on a request — usually because a record must be retained under tax law — we will tell you which obligation prevents it rather than refusing without explanation.
You may also nominate somebody to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity, as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 provides.
To make a request, contact us using the details above. We will respond within the time the law allows.
Cookies
We set a cookie to keep you signed in and, where you are a member of staff, to hold your session. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not embed third-party trackers.
Our fonts are served from our own servers rather than a font network, so reading a deal page does not announce you to a third party.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, contact our Grievance Officer — see the Grievance Redressal page. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
