Interest is free. Commitment requires payment. Collective commitment unlocks better prices.

How Group Buying Works

Last updated 23 August 2026

The idea

A publisher will price a commentary differently for one advocate than for two hundred. Individually, nobody in the profession has that leverage. Together, they do.

LexPerks assembles that group. We negotiate a price ladder before a deal opens, publish it, and let commitment do the rest.

1. Follow, for nothing

See a title you would want at the right price? Follow it. It costs nothing, it commits you to nothing, and you can stop at any time.

Following is how we know what to negotiate next. It is the single most useful signal we have, and it is the reason we can go to a publisher with a number rather than a hope.

2. Reserve with a token

When a deal opens, you reserve by paying a token — a part of the price, not a fee. It is deducted from what you owe at the end.

Paying it is what turns interest into commitment, and only commitments move the price. That is deliberate: a discount funded by people who merely said they were interested would be a discount that could not be honoured.

3. The price falls as the group grows

Each deal has a published ladder. Cross a threshold and everybody moves to the better price — including the people who reserved first.

You are never worse off for committing early. If the group unlocks a better tier after you reserved, you get it automatically.

4. The deal closes

At the closing time the final price is set from wherever the group reached. We tell you the balance and you pay it within the stated window. Then it ships.

If the group did not reach the minimum, the deal does not proceed and every token is refunded in full, automatically.

What we will not do

We will not run a deal we cannot honour. A deal whose economics do not work is blocked by the platform before it can be published, not discovered afterwards.

We will not claim a saving against a price we cannot evidence. Every discount is measured against a verified reference price with a record behind it.

And we will not count interest as commitment. Free follows are demand intelligence; they never move a price.
